I often tell everyone that the more I go to masked traditions, at least in this corner of Europe, the less important the mask and the costume feels to me. It still is, a lot, don’t get me wrong, but there are so many other subtle things that it feels not fair to look only at that one.
But today, as I quickly browsed through my pictures from my return to Ousilhão, one that caught my eye was one where the mask is the main character.
I’d love to be more consistent, but things aren’t as linear as that 😁
Always having a camera nearby
Sunday mornings where it would felt much better to stay in bed, but glad I didn’t! Hiking at Tapada de Mafra, my mate Bruno’s idea.
Slack has a neat little feature where it plays ambient music when there’s no one else in a call. It’s funny, but I need different options, something like:
Winter afternoon photowalk at Lisbon’s eastern neighborhoods with my mate Bruno. There’s no better way to catch up with friends that also photograph than going on a walk with our cameras, if you happen to take nice shots then that’s an extra bonus!
Also was a chance to take out new gear for a drive, but in the end mostly used only one camera. Mental reminder not to take the X100V when testing new gear…
Time of the year to take the Christmas tree from the basement, turn on the lights and count the days to feast around the table.
Monday morning commute
…aaaaaand one more trip around the sun…
Not leaving home today!
Wrapping up a meeting earlier today…

The kickoff message of this year’s #exodusaveirofest. It’s going to be a good weekend!
Travel to a far away place is cool and all that, but these photos won’t cull themselves…
Returning home also means going back to one of my favorite walkaround setups, and one that I rarely travel with: X-E3 + 27mm
Returning home also means returning to #commute photos
#twittlis day!!!
This is a scaffold of the ongoing repairs from the damages of 2015 earthquake… Arriving home from Nepal, with the news that another one has struck, is both heartbreaking and a brutal reminder of how that beautiful country is vulnerable to nature…
It kinda feels right to close the trip at Bodhanauth…
